About the event

Introducing Compass Conversations

Compass Conversations are quarterly virtual gatherings from Street Smart Ventures designed to create space for reflection, connection, and shared learning. These conversations are guided by Michael Scanlon and bring together young people, professionals, community members, and leaders for meaningful dialogue around identity, direction, resilience, and possibility.

Compass Conversations are not lectures. They are interactive spaces where participants can pause, reflect, and strengthen their capacity to navigate change. Each session focuses on real life challenges and opportunities while building stronger, more supportive community culture.

About This Session

Resilience with Debra Cady

This interactive workshop centers the well being of the workforce and the communities they serve. The session explores how stress and trauma show up in our communities, workplaces, and everyday lives and how we can build healthier, more supportive environments together.

Participants will learn how emotional labor, burnout, and secondary trauma affect communication, teamwork, and leadership, especially in roles focused on community impact and economic mobility.

Through guided reflection and small group conversation, attendees will gain practical, easy to use tools for emotional regulation, peer support, and sustainable self care. The focus goes beyond individual wellness to strengthening team culture and shared responsibility.

When we take care of our workforce, we strengthen our organizations and our communities.

Who Should Attend

This session is designed for everyone including young people, families, frontline staff, community members, supervisors, managers, and executive leaders. Every role matters.

Whether you are just starting out, leading a team, or shaping organizational strategy, your well being and voice are essential. Bringing people from across roles creates shared understanding, strengthens communication, and builds a culture where everyone feels valued and supported.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will:

  • Recognize common trauma responses including fight, flight, freeze, and fawn and apply trauma informed principles at work.

  • Understand how emotional labor and stress impact team dynamics, leadership, and long term sustainability.

  • Create a realistic, personalized resilience plan to support well being, connection, and healthy workplace culture.
